Complimentary Infant Risk Assessment
Dental Decay is the number one PREVENTIBLE childhood disease. So why do so many of our children have cavities? Dr Schroeder has found that one of the reasons for early childhood caries is lack of information at an age early enough for parents to change habits and make informed choices.
This was the foundation for Dr Schroeder implementing her complimentary Infant Risk Assessment Program. She wants expecting parents and parents of children under the age of 12 months to get their questions answered and the information they need to reduce the risk of their infant developing cavities.
Early childhood caries is a widespread problem. Statistics show that cavities are present in half of all children by age 3. Dentists know that dental problems can have profound effects such as pain, infection, poor nutrition and failure to thrive. Early prevention can minimize the need for more extensive and possibly more emotionally difficult treatment later. Further studies show that children who have their first dental visit by age one have 40% lower dental costs in their first five years than children who don’t.
Though not a substitute for a comprehensive exam, our infant oral health program gives parents the opportunity to establish good dental health and habits that will hopefully last their children a lifetime!
