Meet the Doctors at Children’s Dentistry
Dentists in Wenatchee
As a general dentist in Wenatchee, I have chosen to devote my career in dentistry to the care of children. I love the pure joy of working with children and being able to impact their oral health and self-esteem. I love that every day is a new adventure! Children have this miraculous way of turning a job into a fun and exciting moment and that’s what I have every day with these little people! I have had the great opportunity to practice in this area since 1995. It makes me so happy to see the smiling faces of both the parents I have treated when they were children and their own little ones now as patients. As a woman and a professional, I love that my position allows me to mentor and be a role model to young women. It is not uncommon to have students from junior high through college in our office observing and learning about dentistry. What a smile it brings to my face when a little one says to me, “I want to be a dentist when I grow up!”
Prior to going to dental school, I earned my Master’s degree in counseling from Boston University, focusing on the needs of children, anxiety, and behavior challenges. This advanced education has greatly enhanced the gift I strive to give to all my patients — a happy trip to the dentist! Following the completion of my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Ohio State University, I enrolled for additional training in children’s dentistry in the Pediatric Department at the University of Illinois at Chicago. To keep abreast of the latest developments in dentistry for children, I have always exceeded the continuing education requirements for the state of Washington.
In the Office
Our dental home is a place where laughter and having fun is one of the core business values. We get to be silly, laugh, tease, and bring joy to children all with the underlying foundation of professionalism, expertise, and being the best at what we do.
Our experienced staff is especially interested in making all of our patients feel right at home! An exceptional group, they have a collective experience, education, and knowledge base in the dental health field that is a credit to our practice. Friendly smiles, humorous ways and patient attitudes are responsible for their success in calming fears and turning frowns into smiles.
Outside the Office
I was born in Wenatchee and my grandparents were homesteaders in Waterville. In fact, my great grandfather was one of the original surveyors who mapped out the town. I love this community. Driving down and seeing the Valley for the first time brings me an indescribable feeling of contentment. Having lived all over the United States as well as in Europe for 15 years, I have had the chance to see the world. What I have learned is there is no place like home.
My husband, Cordell, and I have been married for 34 years and I look forward to many more happy years together. I went back to dental school at age 30 and it was Cordell is who encouraged and supported me through the process. During my last year of dental school, we were blessed with a daughter. Since then, we added to our family through the wonderful experience of adoption. Our plan involved Russia and three beautiful siblings; who became a part of our family at ages six, four, and two, making us a complete family of six! My children are now grown and each are at different stages in their lives. I am now blessed to have two beautiful grandchildren whom I adore!
At this point in my life spending time with my family is what I love the most. Family gatherings are always a treat when we all get together, celebrating each other or a special event! I also love that my business affords me the opportunity to give back by contributing to the community, a key component of our mission statement. Initiating, participating in, and sponsoring activities for kids brings me great joy. I have been blessed by this community I live in and will continue to give back to it. I feel so fortunate to work with the children I do everyday and am thankful for the opportunity.
Practicing dentistry, and treating families, in a community I am raising my own two children in, is rewarding. I have been practicing dentistry for 12 years, 7 with Dr. Cara and her staff. In that time I have watched families grow in size, and young children turn into teens and young adults. It has been a practice that has allowed me to treat developmentally disabled children and adults. Working Thursdays allows me to provide for the families in my community that would otherwise have to travel a great distance for care of their children, siblings, or spouses. My staff compliment my desire to practice high-quality dentistry, no matter the obstacle. We have been told we look like we are having entirely to much fun, and that is always the goal on a “Dr. Britt day.”
Outside the Office
Most of my off time is spent as a mom. I am often shuttling my children around Wenatchee for different sports or activities. When I have a few minutes to myself my primary hobby is gardening and botany. I am interested in growing fruit, vegetables, and flowers. Each year my garden expands to a new pocket of my property,
A Life Long Education
I have a Bachelors of Science in Food Science and Human Nutrition from the College of Agriculture, University of Florida and a Doctor of Dental Medicine from the College of Dentistry, University of Florida. After graduating from Dental School, I have never stopped learning. I maintain my continuing education by attending annual national dental conventions and local study clubs. I focus my dental studies on the newest materials and best-proven techniques. My highest goal is to provide care for my patients that is efficient and comfortable, and my continuing education helps me ensure the best care possible.
A Special Note
I often feel new parents new to the practice are worried there will be some judgment by myself or Dr. Cara. I want you to know, the doctors and staff are so happy you have come for the first visit with your little one. There is never any judgment. We are all mothers in this office, and we understand the daily stress in taking care of children. It is my goal to help you start off on the right foot or help you with pointers to make oral hygiene easier.
